The Private Instructor
Meet Your Teacher
Kayla’s journey with the piano began at the age of six in South Korea and continued after her family moved to the United States. What began as childhood piano lessons grew into a lifelong love of music—and eventually a calling to share that love with others through teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Houston, where she studied with Timothy Hester and Dr. Tali Morgulis. With more than a decade of teaching experience, Kayla has worked with students of different ages, personalities, levels, and musical goals. Her experience extends beyond the teaching studio as an accompanist for recitals, competitions, UIL events, and Solo & Ensemble performances. For Kayla, however, music has always been about more than achievement. Some of her most meaningful musical experiences have come from sharing music in churches, and charitable organizations—experiences that continue to shape the way she teaches today.

Preparation & Guidance
My Approach
Encouraged enough to explore.
Challenged enough to grow.
I believe students thrive when they feel both supported and appropriately challenged. My goal is not simply to move students through books or teach them to play pieces. I want students to understand what they are playing, develop strong musical habits, and gradually become confident, independent musicians.Lessons are thoughtfully shaped around each student’s personality, learning style, strengths, and goals—while maintaining the consistency and high standards that meaningful progress requires.
Every student deserves to feel that their musical journey is truly their own.
